About the Journal
‘Anaesthesia, Pain & Intensive Care’ — fondly known as the Apicare Journal — began its journey in 1997 under the title Anaesthesia News. Initially modest in scope, the first two issues featured a handful of case reports and a single review article, alongside updates on anesthesiology-related activities across the country.
What began as a humble platform quickly gained momentum, thanks to overwhelming support and interest from anesthesiologists nationwide. Encouraged by this enthusiastic response, we reimagined the publication as a full-fledged scientific journal dedicated to representing the four interconnected specialties of anesthesiology, pain management, intensive care, and resuscitation. Thus, Anaesthesia, Pain & Intensive Care emerged with a bold new vision to advance knowledge across anesthesiology and its allied fields.
As the volume and quality of submissions grew, we adopted a rigorous peer review system to ensure the highest standards of academic integrity. Over the years, despite facing numerous challenges, the journal has not only endured but also thrived, earning recognition as one of the region’s leading platforms for cutting-edge research and clinical advancements.
Our editorial board comprises respected scholars of international repute. With a wide readership across South Asia and the Middle East, the journal is proudly indexed and abstracted by major international agencies.
Registered with the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) and recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, Anaesthesia, Pain & Intensive Care has continued to evolve. Since January 2020, the journal has increased its publication frequency and is now published bimonthly, with issues released in February, April, June, August, October, and December.
